Ingredients
- 24-28 Mandeli fish
- Salt to taste
- 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
- ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Oil for deep-frying
- ¼ cup cornflour/cornstarch
- ¾ cup rice flour
- ½ cup semolina (suji)
- 1 tablespoon fresh coriander leaves, chopped
- Green chutney to serve
- Onion rings to serve
- Lemon wedges to serve
Method
- Remove the head of each mandeli fish, clean the gut and keep them in a bowl
- Add salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, ginger-garlic paste and lemon juice and mix well. Set aside to marinate for 5-10 minutes.
- Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.
- Take cornflour, rice flour, semolina, salt and coriander leaves on a plate and mix well. Roll the fish in this mixture slide into hot oil and deep-fry till golden brown and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
- Arrange them on a serving platter and serve hot with green chutney, onion rings and lemon wedges.
