  • 24-28 Mandeli fish
  • to taste Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • for deep-frying Oil
  • 1/4 cup Cornflour/ corn starch
  • 3/4 cup Rice flour
  • 1/2 cup Semolina (suji)
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh coriander leaves chopped
  • to serve Green chutney
  • to serve Onoin rings
  • to serve Lemon wedges

Method

  1. Remove the head of each mandeli fish, clean the gut and keep them in a bowl
  2. Add salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, ginger-garlic paste and lemon juice and mix well. Set aside to marinate for 5-10 minutes.
  3. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.
  4. Take cornflour , rice flour, semolina, salt and coriander leaves in a plate and mix well. Roll the fish in this mixture and slide into hot oil and deep-fry till golden brown and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
  5. Arrange them on a serving platter and serve hot with green chutney, onion rings and lemon wedges.
