Ingredients list for Kiwi Bread ka Halwa
- 4 Kiwi peeled
- 8 Brown bread slices
- 2 tablespo Ghee
- 1 tablespoon Melon seeds (magaz)
- 1 tablespoon Cashewnuts chopped
- 1 tablespoon Pistachios chopped
- 1 tablespoon almonds chopped
- 1 tablespoon Raisins
- 1 cup Sugar
- a few saffron strands
- 1/4 cup Milk
- 1/4 cup Khoya/mawa
- a pinch Green cardamom powder
Method
- Heat sufficient ghee in a kadai.
- Trim edges of bread slices and cut into small cubes. Slide the cubes in hot ghee and deep-fry till golden and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
- Heat 2 tablespoons ghee in a non-stick wok. Add melon seeds, cashewnuts, pistachios and raisins and sauté till well browned.
- Add sugar, 1½ cups water and stir to mix. Add saffron strands, mix well and cook.
- Blend kiwis into a coarse puree and add in the pan. Stir to mix and cook for 6-8 minutes.
- Add milk, fried bread cubes, mix well and add khoya. Mix well and add cardamom powder. Mix again and cook for 5 minutes or till the mixture reaches a halwa consistency, stirring continuously.
- Serve warm.
