Ingredients list for Jaljeera - SK Khazana

  • 2-3 tablespoons Cumin seeds
  • to taste Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Asafoetida
  • to taste Black salt
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger finely chopped
  • 10-12 Fresh mint leaves
  • a few Fresh coriander leaves
  • 1 tablespoon Tamarind pulp
  • 3 Lemons
  • as required Ice cubes
  • For topping Drinking soda

Method

  1. Dry roast cumin seeds till fragrant and crush coarsely in a mortar with a pestle.
  2. Add salt, asafoetida, black salt and sugar and crush. Add ginger, mint leaves, coriander leaves and tamarind pulp and crush again.
  3. Halve 2 lemons and cut 1 lemon into thin slices.
  4. Put some cumin seed mixture into each of 4 tall glasses. Squeeze in juice of ½ lemon into each glass. Add 2-3 lemon slices and some ice cubes.
  5. Top with drinking soda, stir and serve immediately.
