Green Masala Fish Fry

Fish darnes marinated in green chutney, coated with semolina-rice flour mixture and shallow-fried. This is a Sanjeev Kapoor exclusive recipe.

Ingredients list for Green Masala Fish Fry

  • 1 medium Fish Surmai, cut into darnes
  • for garnishing Fresh coriander leaves ½ medium bunch +
  • 2-3 Green chillies
  • 6-8 Garlic cloves
  • to taste Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • ½ cup Semolina (rawa/suji)
  • 1 tablespoon Rice flour
  • for shallow frying Oil
  • ½ for garnishing Lemon

Method

  1. Grind together coriander leaves, green chillies, garlic cloves, salt and lemon juice with some water to a smooth paste.
  2. Take fish darnes in a bowl. Add salt and mix. Add ground paste and mix well. Set aside to marinate for 10-15 minutes.
  3. Spread semolina on a plate. Add rice flour and mix well.
  4. Coat each marinated fish darn with semolina mixture.
  5. Heat some oil in a non-stick pan. Shallow-fry the fish, turning sides, till evenly cooked, golden and crisp on both sides. Drain on absorbent paper.
  6. Serve hot garnished with coriander leaves and halved lemon.
