Ingredients list for Deep-Fried Cookie Dough

  • 1¼ cups Refined flour (maida)
  • ? cup Butter
  • ½ cup brown sugar/jaggery
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla essence
  • 1 cup Chocolate chips
  • Batter
  • 1¼ cups Refined flour (maida)
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon Salt
  • ¼ teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons Milk
  • 2 teaspoons Oil
  • for deep-frying Oil
  • for dusting Powdered sugar


  1. To make cookie dough, beat together butter, brown sugar and sugar in a planetary mixer, on medium-high speed till well combined.
  2. Add egg and vanilla essence and beat till well combined. Reduce speed to low, add flour and chocolate chips gradually till the dough is formed.
  3. Divide the dough into 12 equal portions and shape them into 1inch thick balls. Place them on a baking sheet and refrigerate for 1hour or till firm.
  4. To make batter, mix together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar in another bowl. Add milk and oil and whisk till a smooth batter is formed.
  5. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.
  6. Dip the firm cookie dough balls in the batter and deep-fry in hot oil till golden brown. Drain on an absorbent paper.
  7. Dust with powdered sugar and serve immediately.
