Favourite seafood? Prawns, prawns and more of prawns. A wide variety of small crustaceans, tiny relatives of the lobster, are known as prawns. Prawns are normally translucent when raw but get their distinctive pink or red colour on being cooked. one word of caution – if buying unpeeled prawns, smell for freshness and look for bright, shiny shells that have some spring left in them.

Ingredients for Crispy Indian Prawns Recipe

  • Prawns (medium) shelled and deveined with tails intact 20-25

  • Lemon juice 1 tablespoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Ginger-garlic paste 1 tablespoon

  • Cumin powder roated 1 teaspoon

  • Red chilli powder 2 teaspoon

  • Yogurt ½ cup

  • Egg 1

  • Gram flour (besan) 2-3 tablespoons

  • Oil for deep-frying

  • Bread crumbs dried ½ cup

  • Chaat masala to sprinkle

Method

Step 1

Take prawns in a bowl. Add lemon juice, salt, ginger-garlic paste, cumin powder, chilli powder and yogurt in a bowl and mix well.

Step 2

Break egg into another bowl and beat well. Add ½ to the prawn mixture and mix. Add gram flour and mix well.

Step 3

Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.

Step 4

Spread bread crumbs on a plate and coat each marinated prawn with it.

Step 5

Deep-fry these prawns in hot oil till golden and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.

Step 6

Sprinkle some chaat masala on top and serve hot.
