Ingredients
- 1½ cups split Bengal gram (chana dal), soaked for 2-3 hours
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- ¼ cup chopped fresh coriander leaves
- 2-3 green chillies, finely chopped
- ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon chaat masala powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
- 1 inch ginger, finely chopped
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons gram flour (besan)
- Oil for shallow frying
- Tomato ketchup to serve
Method
- In a food processor, add split Bengal gram, onion, fresh coriander, green chillies, turmeric powder, chaat masala, garam masala, ginger, and salt. Process to a coarse paste.
- Transfer the prepared mix in a bowl, add gram flour and mix well. Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into tikkis.
- Heat sufficient oil in a non-stick tawa, place the prepared tikkis and cook on both sides till golden brown and crispy. Drain on an absorbent paper
- Serve hot along with tomato ketchup.
