Ingredients list for Cabbage Chana Dal With Shrimps

  • 1/2 medium Cabbage
  • 1/2 cup Split Bengal Gram soaked
  • 1/4 cup Shrimps
  • 2 tablespoons Oil
  • 1 medium Onion
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon Asafoetida
  • 10-12 Curry leaves
  • 4 Dried red chillies broken
  • to taste Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 2 tablespoons Scraped coconut
  • 1 teaspoon Garam masala powder
  • 2 Green chillies

Method

  1. Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Chop onion in a chopper. Add mustard seeds, asafoetida, curry leaves, red chillies and onion and saute for 1 minute.
  2. Drain and add chana dal and mix. Chop cabbage roughly and add. Add salt, turmeric powder and saute, stirring, for a while.Add shrimps, coconut, garam masala powder and stir well.
  3. Slit green chillies and add along with 2 tbsps water, cover the cooker and cook under pressure on medium heat for 5 minutes.Switch off heat and let it cook in the steam for some time. Open the lid and serve hot.
