Ingredients list for Bread Pakoda-SK Khazana
- 8 White bread slices
- 1 cup Potatoes boiled, peeled and grated
- 1 1/2 cups Gram flour (besan)
- 1 1/2 tabl to deep fry Oil
- 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
- 6-8 Curry leaves
- 1/4 teaspoon Asafoetida (hing)
- 1 tablespoon Green chilli paste
- 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- to taste Salt
- 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
Method
- Heat 1½ tablespoons oil in a non-stick pan. Add mustard seeds and sauté till the seeds splutter.
- Add curry leaves, asafoetida and green chilli paste, mix well and sauté for a minute. Add ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder and mix.
- Add potatoes and mix well. Add salt, mix and cook for a minute. Remove from heat and set aside to cool.
- Take gram flour, remaining turmeric powder, chilli powder and salt in a bowl, add sufficient water and whisk well to make a batter of coating consistency.
- Spread a generous portion of potato mixture on 4 bread slices and cover with remaining bread slices.
- Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.
- Cut sandwiches into triangles, dip in the batter and deep-fry in hot oil till golden brown. Drain on absorbent paper.
- Serve hot with tomato ketchup.
