Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Angoor ki Kheer Recipe

  • Red Grapes seedless 18-20

  • Rice soaked 4 tablespoons

  • Oil 1 teaspoon

  • Black currants 1 tablespoon

  • Raisins 1 tablespoon

  • Almonds slivered 1 tablespoon

  • Pistachios slivered 1 tablespoon

  • Sugar 4 tablespoons

  • Khoya/mawa grated 1/2 cup

  • Milk 1/2 cup

  • Green cardamom powder a pinch

Method

Step 1

Halve the grapes and set aside. Coarsely grind the rice using little water. Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add black currants, raisins, almonds and pistachios and sauté for a minute.

Step 2

Add red grapes and sauté for 4-5 minutes. Transfer the mixture into a bowl. Pour ½ litre water into the same pan. Add ground rice and mix well. Cook for 12-15 minutes or till rice is cooked.

Step 3

Add khoya and milk and mix well. Add green cardamom powder and cook for 5-6 minutes stirring continuously. Transfer the kheer into serving bowls. Sprinkle sautéed nuts and grapes and serve.
