Ingredients list for Aloo Gosht
- 1 kilogram Mutton cut into bite sized pieces
- 2 Potatoes peeled and cubed
- 3-4 Onions sliced
- 1 inch stick Cinnamon
- 4-5 Black cardamoms
- 2 Bay leaves
- 4-5 Green chillies slit
- 3/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- to taste Salt
- 4 tablespoons Mustard oil
- 1 tablespoon Garlic paste
- 1 tablespoon Ginger paste
- 4-5 Tomatoes,pureed
- 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
- 1 1/2 tablespoons Coriander powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons Garam masala powder
Method
- Place onions, mutton, cinnamon, black cardamoms, bay leaves, green chillies, ½ tsp turmeric powder, salt and 1 cup water in a pressure cooker.
- Cover and cook under pressure for 25-30 minutes or till 7-8 whistles.
- Heat mustard oil in anon-stick kadai, add garlic paste, ginger paste and tomato puree and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
- Add red chilli powder, coriander powder, ¼ tsp turmeric powder and 1 tsp garam masala powder and sauté till oil separates.
- Add potatoes and mix. Transfer mutton from pressure cooker into the kadai and sauté for 2-3 minutes. Add water as required and cook till the potatoes are done.
- Adjust salt, add remaining garam masala powder and mix. Simmer for 2-3 minutes. Transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot.
