Ingredients list for Red Lentil Rice
- 1/2 cup Red lentils soaked overnight
- 1 cup Rice soaked
- 3 tablespoons Ghee
- 3 Green cardamom
- 3 Cloves
- 2 One inch Cinnamon sticks
- 6 Black peppercorns
- 2 tablespoons Ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
- 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- to taste Salt
- 1 teaspoon Garam masala powder
- 2 teaspoons Lemon juice
- 3 tablespoons Fresh coriander leaves, chopped
Method
- Heat ghee in a deep non-stick pan, add cardamom, cloves, cinnamon and peppercorns and sauté for a minute.
- Add ginger-garlic paste, red chilli powder, turmeric powder and sauté for a minute.
- Drain and add rice and red lentils and saute of a few minutes.
- Add three cups water and salt, cook till the rice and lentils are soft and mashed.
- Sprinkle garam masala powder and add lemon juice. Mix well.
- Serve hot garnished with coriander leaves.
