Why is it that when you are stuck at “what should we cook today” the answer is always “make some aloo!” Potatoes are like this…extremely popular and have multipurpose usage.

And did you always think that eating a potato will make you fat?
Well, don’t – it is a surprising source of vitamin C and provides useful amounts of starch, thiamine and niacin and around a hundred grams will provide about eighty calories.

Ingredients for Potato Bites with Cheesy Garlic Dip Recipe

  • Potatoes boiled and peeled 3 medium

  • Refined Flour 4 teaspoons

  • Cheese spread 3 tablespoons

  • Garlic chopped 2 teaspoons

  • Processed cheese grated 2 tablespoons

  • Salt to taste

  • Crushed black peppercorns to taste

  • Cumin powder 1 1/2 teaspoons

  • Fresh parsley chopped 21/2 teaspoons + for garnishing

  • Oil 1 teaspoon + for deep-frying

  • Milk 1 teaspoon

  • Red chilli flakes 1/2 teaspoon + for garnishing

Method

Step 1

Grate potatoes into a bowl. Add refined flour, one tablespoon grated processed cheese, salt, crushed peppercorns, cumin powder and two teaspoons chopped parsley and mix well.

Step 2

Divide the mixture into twelve equal portions and shape them into bite-size patties.

Step 3

Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Slide in the patties, a few at a time, into hot oil and deep-fry till golden. Drain on absorbent paper.

Step 4

To make the dip, heat one teaspoon oil in a non-stick pan. Add garlic and sauté till light golden.

Step 5

Place cheese spread in a bowl, add milk, red chilli flakes, remaining grated processed cheese and mix well. Add sautéed garlic along with the oil and mix well. Add half teaspoon chopped parsley and mix well.

Step 6

6. Place the potato bites on a serving platter. Top with the dip, garnish with the red chilli flakes and parsley and serve immediately.
