A favourite with the vegetarians, paneer made from milk is quite common, especially paneer recipes are quite popular in the Indian subcontinent. You can make it fresh, chhena – an another version or just use the ones that are readily available in the market to prepare everything from simple snacks, curries, sabzis, mithais, desserts and the likes. An ingredient that can be relished in the raw form too – try serving it as a starter just sprinkled with a little chaat masala, black salt and chilli powder!

Ingredients for Paneer Yogi Recipe

  • Paneer (cottage cheese) cut into ½ inch cubes 250 grams

  • Yogurt 3/4 cup

  • Salt 1 teaspoon

  • Sugar 1 teaspoon

  • Cashewnuts 1/2 cup

  • Green chillies 5

  • Green cardamoms 2

  • Cinnamon 1/2 inch stick

  • Cloves 2

  • Ginger chopped 1/2 inch

  • Oil 4 tablespoons


Step 1

Blend yogurt with salt, sugar and one green chilli to a smooth paste.

Step 2

Make a paste of cashews and three chillies and set aside. Chop one chilli and set it aside.Heat half tablespoon oil in a non-stick pan.

Step 3

Add paneer and saute for three minutes and sprinkle salt on it. Remove and keep aside.

Step 4

Heat remaining oil in a non-stick pan. Add cardamoms, cinnamon, cloves and ginger and saute for a minute.

Step 5

Add cashew-chilli paste and stir on low heat for two minutes. Add yogurt and keep stirring till the mixture thickens.

Step 6

Add salt, chopped chilli and cover and cook for a minute.Add the paneer and keep stirring slowly.Remove and serve hot with chapatis.
