Yes, though other meats being more common, biryani eaters all over the world can easily swear by mutton. And not just biryanis, curries, bakes and all other preparations with this wonderful meat are always special. Did you know, unlike other dishes, a day-old mutton prep will always be all the more tastier on the palate! Try it the next time you plan on to take on this meat.

Ingredients for Himachali Rara Gosht - SK Khazana Recipe

  • Mutton cut into 1 inch pieces on the bone 500 grams

  • Mutton mince 250 grams

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Large onion sliced 1

  • Ginger-garlic paste 1 tablespoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Medium tomato chopped 1

  • Garam masala powder 1 tablespoon

  • Red chilli powder 1 1/2 teaspoons

  • Cumin powder 1 teaspoon

  • Coriander powder 2 teaspoons

  • Yogurt 1/2 cup

  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped 2 tablespo to garnish

Method

Step 1

Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add onion and sauté till translucent.

Step 2

Add mutton and mix well. Add ginger-garlic paste, salt and sufficient water, mix well. Cover and cook for 4-5 whistles.

Step 3

Once the pressure settles down, open the lid and add tomato, garam masala powder, red chilli powder, cumin powder, coriander powder and cook for 5-10 minutes.

Step 4

Add yogurt and mix well. Add mutton mince, mix well and cook for 25-30 minutes.

Step 5

Add coriander leaves, mix well and cook for 5 minutes. Transfer into a serving dish, garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
