Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Green Peas Peel and Potato Bhaji Recipe

  • Green Peas Peal 20-25

  • Potatoes 2 medium

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Cumin seeds 2 teaspoons

  • Onions sliced 2 medium

  • Salt to taste

  • Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Ginger-garlic paste 1 tablespoon

  • Tomato 1 medium

  • Coriander powder 1 teaspoon

  • Red chilli powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Garam masala powder 1/2 teaspoon

Method

Step 1

String the green pea peels and remove the thin skin and cut into ½ inch pieces.

Step 2

Heat oil in a non-stick wok.

Step 3

Halve potatoes vertically and thinly slice horizontally.

Step 4

Add cumin seeds and onions to the wok and saute for ½ minute. Add potatoes, salt and turmeric powder and mix and continue to saute.

Step 5

Add ginger-garlic paste and mix. Cover and cook till the potatoes are almost done.

Step 6

Chop tomato finely. Add green pea peels to the wok and mix. Add coriander powder, red chilli powder and garam masala powder and mix well. Cover and cook.

Step 7

When potatoes are cooked, add tomatoes and mix well. Cover and cook on low heat for 10 minutes.

Step 8

Serve hot.
