Ingredients for Desi Prawn Stir Fry - SK Khazana Recipe

  • Prawns shelled, deveined and washed 12-15 large

  • Oil 1 tablespoon + to deep-fry

  • Cornflour/ corn starch 3 tablespoons

  • Refined flour (maida) 2 tablespoons

  • Salt to taste

  • Eggs 2

  • Celery finely chopped 2 teaspoons

  • Garlic finely chopped 1/2 tablespoons

  • Spring onion bulbs quatered 2

  • Yellow capsicum cut into diamonds 1/4 medium

  • Red capsicum cut into diamonds 1/4 medium

  • Green capsicum cut into diamonds 1/4 medium

  • Red chilli powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Red chilli sauce 2 teaspoons

  • Dark soy sauce 1 teaspoon

  • Sugar a pinch

  • Crushed black peppercorns to taste

  • Spring onion greens roughly chopped 2 stalks


Step 1

Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.

Step 2

Take prawns in a bowl, add cornflour, refined flour, salt and break in 1 egg and mix well. Break in 1 more egg and mix well.

Step 3

Drop in the prawns one by one into the hot oil, deep-fry till light golden and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.

Step 4

Heat 1 tbsp oil in a non-stick pan, add celery and garlic, mix and sauté for 1 minute.

Step 5

Add spring onion bulbs and all the capsicums and toss on high heat.

Step 6

Add Chilli Powder and toss well. Add the fried prawns and toss well.

Step 7

Add a little salt and mix well. Add red chilli sauce, dark soy sauce and toss well.

Step 8

Add sugar crushed black peppercorns and spring onion greens and mix well. Switch the heat off.

Step 9

Transfer into a serving plate and serve hot.
