The cuisine of The United States is a rich amalgamation of peoples, religions and cultures thanks to the immigrants from different parts of the world.  They brought with them their local ingredients as well as cooking styles with them.  Yet amidst all these varieties Chinese and Italian cuisines dominate.  
During the 18th and 19th centuries, the Americans developed a number of new foods.  What characterised the American cuisine is the adaptation of a fusion of multiple ethnic cooking styles. During this period food production and presentation became more industrialised.

Ingredients for Barbecue Style Chicken Wings Recipe

  • Chicken wings with skin 6

  • Oil to deep fry

  • Salt to taste

  • Black peppercorns , crushed to taste

  • Smoked paprika 1 teaspoon

  • Garlic powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Onion powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Lemon juice 1 teaspoon

  • Refined flour (maida) 1 cup

  • Rice flour 1/2 cup

  • Fresh parsley leves , chopped to garnish

  • Barbecue sauce

  • Butter 1 tablespoon

  • Tomato ketchup 1/2 cup

  • Worcestershire sauce 1 tablespoon

  • Onion powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Garlic powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Black peppercorns , crushed to taste

  • English mustard paste 1 teaspoon

  • Brown sugar 1 1/2 teaspoons

  • Tabasco sauce 1 teaspoon

  • Chicken stock 4-5 tablespoons

  • Smoked paprika 1/2 teaspoon


Step 1

To prepare barbecue sauce, heat 1 tablespoon butter in a non-stick pan. Add tomato ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, crushed peppercorns, English mustard paste, 1 teaspoon brown sugar and Tabasco sauce, mix and simmer for 1 minute.

Step 2

Add 2-3 tablespoons chicken stock and mix well. Add paprika, remaining brown sugar and remaining chicken stock, mix and cook on low heat for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat.

Step 3

Take chicken wings in a bowl. Add salt, crushed peppercorns, ½ teaspoon paprika, garlic powder, onion powder and lemon juice and rub in well. Set aside to marinate for 15-20 minutes.

Step 4

Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.

Step 5

Mix together refined flour, rice flour, remaining paprika and salt on a plate.

Step 6

Coat the marinated chicken wings with the flour mixture. Slide the chicken wings into hot oil and deep-fry till golden brown and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.

Step 7

Add fried chicken wings to the barbecue sauce and mix well. Place the pan back on heat and cook for 2-3 minutes.

Step 8

Arrange the chicken wings on a serving platter and serve hot garnished with parsley.
