Ingredients list for Bajre ke Masaledar Pulao

  • 2 cups Pearl Millets soaked in water overnight
  • 2 tablespoons Tomatoes
  • 1 large Onion
  • 1 inch Ginger
  • 2 medium Tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon Kashmiri red chilli powder
  • a pinch Turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon Coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garam masala powder
  • to taste Salt

Method

  1. Heat oil in a pressure pan. Roughly chop onion and add to the pan.
  2. Cut ginger into thin long strips and roughly chop tomato. Add both to the pan and sauté for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Add Kashmiri red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder and salt and sauté for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Add pearl millets and sauté for 1-2 minutes. Add 4 cups of water. Close the lid and cook on high heat up to 2 whistles. Lower the heat and cook for 10-12 minutes.
  5. Transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot.
