And did you always think that eating a potato will make you fat?
Well, don’t – it is a surprising source of vitamin C and provides useful amounts of starch, thiamine and niacin and around a hundred grams will provide about eighty calories.

Ingredients for Aloo Tarkari - SK Khazana Recipe

  • Potatoes peeled and cut into 1/2 inch pieces 3 large

  • Mustard oil 2 tablespoons

  • Panch phoran 1 1/2 teaspoons

  • Dried red chillies 2

  • Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Red chilli powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Cumin powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Sugar 1/2 teaspoon


Step 1

Heat mustard oil in a non-stick pan, add panch phoran and let the seeds splutter. Break the dried red chillies and add them to the pan. Add the potatoes and saute well.

Step 2

Add turmeric powder, saute and cook for 3-4 minutes. Add red chilli powder, cumin powder, and saute well. Cook for 2-3 minutes.

Step 3

Add salt, sugar and 2 cups of water, mix well. Cover and cook till the potatoes are completely cooked.

Step 4

Serve hot.
