Ever wondered why the phrase “say cheese” is used just before a photograph is clicked? Simply because ‘cheese’ makes one smile! Not only the word but cheese as a food makes a lot of palates happy. It is an inexpensive, versatile and nourishing food. We have our very own Indian version as well as the ones made from soy milk that are even healthier. Whichever form, this is one food that is loved by one and all!

Ingredients for Cheesy Momos-SK Khazana Recipe

  • Cheese sauce 1 cup

  • Processed cheese grated 1/2 cup

  • Refined flour (maida) dough 200 grams

  • Chicken mince 150 grams

  • Onion finely chopped 2 tablespoons

  • Carrot finely chopped 2 tablespoons

  • Celery finely chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Garlic finely chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Black peppercorns crushed to taste

  • Fresh thyme 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Refined flour (maida for dusting

  • Dried oregano a pinch

  • Red chilli flakes a pinch

Method

Step 1

Mix together chicken mince, onion, carrot, celery, garlic, crushed peppercorns, thyme and salt in a bowl.

Step 2

Divide the dough into equal portions, dust with some flour and roll out into medium discs.

Step 3

Place a portion of chicken mixture in the centre of each disc and shape into momos. Place them on a steamer plate.

Step 4

Heat sufficient water in a steamer. Place the plate in it, cover and steam for 10-15 minutes.

Step 5

Preheat oven to 180º C.

Step 6

Transfer the steamed momos into a baking dish. Pour cheese sauce, top with processed cheese, oregano and chilli flakes.

Step 7

Put the dish in the preheated oven and bake till the cheese melts.

Step 8

Serve hot.
