Tulsi Tea

These days we get various flavoured tea made with different aromatics. And each flavour has its own charm. Here we have for you a variation of the regular masala chai enriched with the nutrients of Tulsi (Holy basil leaves)!

Ingredients

Method

  1. Put ginger in a mortar and coarsely pound with the pestle. Add black peppercorns, cloves, and green cardamoms and pound again to a coarse mixture. 
  2. Heat 1 cup water in a deep pan, add the crushed mixture and mix well. Add tea leaves, mix and let it come to a boil. Continue to boil for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add tulsi (basil leaves), mix well. Add milk and continue to boil for 3-4 minutes.  
  4. Reduce the heat to medium and add jaggery and mix well. Boil till the jaggery melts. 
  5. Switch the heat off and strain the tea into individual serving glasses. 
  6. Serve hot with biscuits.
