Ratalyacha Chivda

Chivdas make a wonderful accompaniment to cups of hot tea. They can be made with different ingredients. Here we have for you a lightly sweet-spicy one made with sweet potatoes.

Method

  1. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai, and deep-fry grated sweet potatoes in two lots.  Drain on absorbent paper.
  2. Deep-fry raw peanuts in same oil till golden brown. Drain on another absorbent paper and set aside.
  3. Deep-fry curry leaves and green chillies in the same oil and drain on the same absorbent paper as the peanuts.
  4. Transfer all the ingredients into a large mixing bowl, add rock salt and red chilli powder and toss well. Allow to cool completely.
  5. Transfer into a serving bowl and serve or store in an airtight container and serve as required.
