Ingredients
- 1½ cups salted fried moong dal
- 300 grams boneless chicken breasts, cut into thin pieces
- 1½ tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
- ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon + a pinch red chilli powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh coriander leaves
- 2 eggs
- Refined flour (maida) for coating
- Oil for deep frying
- Green chutney to serve
Method
- Take chicken in a large bowl, add ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon red chilli powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, salt and coriander leaves and mix well. Set aside to marinate for 10-15 minutes.
- Transfer the salted fried moong dal in a zip lock bag and coarsely crush it with a rolling pin. Transfer onto a plate.
- Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.
- Break eggs into a small bowl, add a pinch of red chilli powder and salt and whisk well with a fork. Take some refined flour on a plate.
- Coat each chicken strip with refined flour, dip it in the eggs mixture and coat it well with crushed moong dal.
- Gently slide the chicken strips, a few at a time, into hot oil and deep-fry till golden brown and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
- Arrange the chicken on a serving plate and serve hot with green chutney.
