Khekda Bhaji

Don't be surprised by the name, these Khekda Bhaji are vegetarian, perhaps they look somewhat like crabs, and hence the name! Made with onions mixed with gram flour and rice and deep-fried. An excellent snack on rainy days.

Method

  1. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.
  2. Thinly slice the onions and transfer into a large bowl. Add salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder and green chillies and mix well. Add gram flour and rice flour and mix well.
  3. Drop small portions of this mixture into hot oil and deep-fry till golden brown and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
  4. Arrange them on a serving plate and serve hot with green chutney.
