Ingredients
- 100 grams tamarind (imli)
- Ice as required
- 2 tablespoons cumin seeds
- 200 grams jaggery
- 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
- Black salt to taste
Method
- Dry roast cumin seeds in a small non-stick pan till brown. Transfer into a mortar and crush coarsely with a pestle.
- Chop jaggery. Soak tamarind in sufficient water in a bowl for 35-40 minutes and extract the pulp into another bowl.
- Heat a non-stick pan, add tamarind pulp, ½ cup water, chopped jaggery, red chilli powder, 2 teaspoons crushed cumin seeds and black salt, mix well and cook till thick.
- Strain through a fine sieve into a bowl and allow to cool.
- Meanwhile crush ice through ice crushing machine. Transfer into conical moulds, insert a wooden stick and press well. Demould.
- Drizzle the prepared syrup over these ice cones and serve chilled.
