Ingredients
- 4-5 white bread slices, roughly torn
- 3 cups milk
- ½ onion
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 clove
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 2 tablespoons fresh cream
- Salt to taste
- Crushed black peppercorns to taste
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg powder + for sprinkling
Method
- Put bread slices into a grinder jar and grind to a fine mixture.
- Boil milk in a deep non-stick pan. Stud ½ onion with bay leaf and clove, add to the milk and cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Discard the onion and add the ground bread to the milk. Add butter, fresh cream, salt, crushed black peppercorns and nutmeg powder, mix well. and cook on medium heat for 2-3 minutes.
- Transfer the sauce into a serving bowl, sprinkle nutmeg powder and serve hot or use as required.
