Bread Sauce

The classic English sauce served with roast during Christmas is a simple creamy recipe. Made essentially with breadcrumbs, milk, butter and fresh cream, bread sauce tastes yummy so worth trying it.

Method

  1. Put bread slices into a grinder jar and grind to a fine mixture. 
  2. Boil milk in a deep non-stick pan. Stud ½ onion with bay leaf and clove, add to the milk and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Discard the onion and add the ground bread to the milk. Add butter, fresh cream, salt, crushed black peppercorns and nutmeg powder, mix well. and cook on medium heat for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Transfer the sauce into a serving bowl, sprinkle nutmeg powder and serve hot or use as required.
