Ingredients 

  • 4 tablespoons oil
  • 2 large onions, finely chopped
  • 1½ tablespoons ginger-garlic paste 
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1½ teaspoons coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 cup fresh tomato puree
  • ½ cup canned tomato puree
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tablespoon cashew nut paste
  • ½ tsp garam masala powder 
  • 2 teaspoons honey

Method

  1. Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add onions and sauté till they turn golden brown.
  2. Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for 2-3 minutes or till the raw smell goes away. 
  3. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, and cumin seeds and sauté for 1-2 minutes. 
  4. Add the fresh tomato puree, canned tomato puree and salt and mix well. Cover and cook till the oil separates.
  5. Add cashew nut paste, garam masala powder and mix well. Add honey and mix. Switch the heat off.
  6. Allow the gravy to cool completely before storing in an air tight container. Store refrigerated. 
  7. Use this for making gravies of your choice.
