Ingredients
- 250 grams yam, peeled and diced
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- ½ teaspoon fenugreek seeds (methi dana)
- 1 teaspoon split black gram skinless (dhuli urad dal)
- 7-8 curry leaves
- 2 green chillies, slit
- ½ teaspoon sugar
- Salt to taste
- Crushed black peppercorns to taste
- 2 tablespoons scraped fresh coconut
Method
- Heat coconut oil in a non-stick pan. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
- Add fenugreek seeds, black gram and curry leaves and sauté well. Add green chillies and sauté.
- Add yam, mix well and sauté. Add sugar, salt and crushed peppercorns, mix well, cover and cook on low heat till yam turns soft.
- Add coconut and mix well. Switch off heat.
- Serve hot.
