Ingredients list for Safed Aloo
- 4 medium Potatoes boiled and peeled cut into 1 inch cubes
- 1 tablespoon Almonds
- 1 tablespoon Poppy seed (khuskhus) paste
- 1 1/2 tablespoons Khoya/mawa
- 1/2 cup Yogurt
- 2 tablespoons Oil
- 1 inch piece Ginger grated
- to taste Salt
- 1 teaspoon Lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon Green cardamom powder
- 5-6 Button red chillies (bor mirchi)
Method
- Grind together almonds, poppy seeds and mawa together. Add this paste to yogurt and mix well. Heat one tablespoon oil in a kadai, add ginger and sauté for half a minute.
- And potatoes and sauté for a minute. Add the yogurt mixture and salt and cook till the gravy thickens. Add lemon juice and green cardamom powder and mix gently.
- Heat the remaining oil and add the button chillies. Sauté for half a minute and immediately add to the potatoes and cover to retain the flavours. Serve hot.
