By Sanjeev Kapoor 06 Nov 2015 in Recipes Course New Update Main Ingredients Red lentils, Rice Cuisine Indian Course Rice Prep Time 16-20 minutes Cook time 11-15 minutes Serve 4 Taste Mild Level of Cooking Moderate Others Veg Ingredients list for Red Lentil Rice 1/2 cup Red lentils soaked overnight 1 cup Rice soaked 3 tablespoons Ghee 3 Green cardamom 3 Cloves 2 One inch Cinnamon sticks 6 Black peppercorns 2 tablespoons Ginger-garlic paste 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder to taste Salt 1 teaspoon Garam masala powder 2 teaspoons Lemon juice 3 tablespoons Fresh coriander leaves, chopped Method Heat ghee in a deep non-stick pan, add cardamom, cloves, cinnamon and peppercorns and sauté for a minute. Add ginger-garlic paste, red chilli powder, turmeric powder and sauté for a minute. Drain and add rice and red lentils and saute of a few minutes. Add three cups water and salt, cook till the rice and lentils are soft and mashed. Sprinkle garam masala powder and add lemon juice. Mix well. Serve hot garnished with coriander leaves.
