Ingredients list for Posto Kheer

  • 10 tablespoons Poppy seeds (khuskhus/posto)
  • 6 tablespoons Ghee
  • 6 cups Milk
  • 8 teaspoons Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Green cardamom powder
  • 1 tablespoon Almonds chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Cashewnuts chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Raisins
  • 1 teaspoon Chironji

Method

  1. Soak the poppy seeds in water overnight.
  2. Drain and grind into a fine paste.
  3. Heat ghee in a non stick pan, add the paste and sauté till brown.
  4. Add milk and bring the mixture to a boil and cook till the mixture thickens.
  5. Add sugar and cook for five minutes.
  6. Add green cardamom powder, almonds, cashewnuts, raisins and chironji and mix well.
  7. Serve hot or cold.
