As these are a good source of fibre and potassium, which keeps all of our body cells functioning properly. Just when you thought that green peas are only used to add that extra punch to your savoury dishes, try a rich, creamy matar ki kheer to satiate your sweet buds too!

Ingredients for Peas and Raw Banana Subzi Recipe

  • Green Peas boiled and lightly crushed 1 cup

  • Raw Banana peeled and cut into ½ inch cubes 3

  • Salt to taste

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Green chilli paste 2 teaspoons

  • Coriander powder 1 teaspoon

  • Cumin powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Scraped coconut 1/4 cup

  • Dried mango powder (amchur) 1 teaspoon

  • Fresh coriander leaves finely chopped 1/2 cup

Method

Step 1

Apply salt to banana cubes and put in a bowl. Steam in a steamer for five to seven minutes.

Step 2

Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add cumin seeds and let them change colour. Add chilli paste and mix well and sauté.

Step 3

Add crushed peas, mix and sauté for two minutes. Add coriander powder, cumin powder and turmeric powder and mix well.

Step 4

Add salt and banana cubes and mix well. Add coconut and mix. Cover and cook for three to four minutes. Add dried mango powder and mix well.

Step 5

Add coriander leaves and mix well.

Step 6

Transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot with chapatti or phulka.
