Ingredients
- 250 grams cottage cheese (paneer), cut into 1 inch cubes
- Oil for deep-frying
- 1 cup gram flour (besan)
- ½ cup yogurt
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh coriander leaves + for garnishing
- 1 teaspoon carom seeds (ajwain)
- 2 teaspoons red chilli powder
- Salt to taste
- Chaat masala for sprinkling
- Onion rings for serving
- Lemon wedges for serving
- Fresh mint sprig for garnishing
- Green chutney for serving
Method
- Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.
- Combine gram flour, yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, 1 tablespoon coriander leaves, carom seeds, chilli powder and salt in a bowl. Add some water and whisk to make a semi-thick and smooth batter.
- Put cottage cheese cubes to the batter and mix well.
- Put the cottage cheese cubes in hot oil and deep-fry till golden brown and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper and sprinkle some chaat masala on top.
- Place pakoras on one side of a serving platter, place onion rings and lemon slice and mint sprig on the other side.
- Garnish with some coriander leaves and serve hot with green chutney.
