Ingredients list for Paneer Bhurji Sandwich

  • 250 grams Cottage cheese (paneer) grated
  • 8 White bread slices
  • 2 tablespoons Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 2-3 Green chillies finely chopped
  • 1 Large onion finely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 4 tablespoons Fresh coriander leaves chopped
  • to taste Salt
  • as required Butter
  • to serve Green chutney


  1. Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add cumin seeds and saute till their colour changes. Add green chillies and onion, mix and sauté for 1 minute.
  2. Add turmeric powder, mix and saute for 1 minute.
  3. Add cottage cheese, coriander leaves and salt, mix well and cook for 3-4 minutes. Take the pan off the heat and let the mixture cool.
  4. Place 4 bread slices on the worktop and apply butter and green chutney on one side of these slices. Spread cottage cheese mixture generously and cover each with the remaining bread slices. Apply butter on the top of each sandwich.
  5. Keep the sandwiches, 2 at a time, in a heated griller, close and grill marks appear on both sides and become crisp.
  6. Cut each sandwich into 2 triangles, place them on serving plates and serve immediately with green chutney.
