Add onions and sauté till they soften. Add tomatoes and salt and mix well. Cover and cook.Add asfoetida, vinegar, tamarind pulp and mix well. Cover and continue to cook.Add brown sugar and mix till it blends completely with the tomatoes. Serve hot or cold.
