Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Mango Chutney- SK Khazana Recipe

  • Imam mango 1 large

  • Green chilli 1-2

  • Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Oil 1 tablespoon

  • Mustard seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Fenugreek seeds (methi dana) 1/4 teaspoon

  • Split black gram skinless (dhuli urad dal) 1/2 teaspoon

  • Asafoetida 1/4 teaspoon

  • Curry leaves 7-8

  • Red chilli flakes a pinch

  • Curry leaves fried for garnish


Step 1

Discard the eye of imam mango, peel and cut into small pieces. Transfer into a blender jar.

Step 2

Break and add green chillies. Add turmeric Powder and salt and blend to a fine paste.

Step 3

Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Add cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds, split black grams,asafoetida and curry leaves and saute for 1-2 minutes. .

Step 4

Add chilli flakes and saute for 30 seconds. Take it off the heat and pour over the chutney and mix well. .

Step 5

Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with fried curry leaves and serve.
