Ingredients list for Kale Chane

  • 1 cup Dried black chickpeas (kale chane) , soaked overnight and boiled
  • 1 tablespoon Ghee
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • to taste Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Garam masala powder
  • for garnishing Fresh coriander sprigs
  • to serve Puris


  1. Heat ghee in a non-stick pan, add cumin powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder and turmeric powder, mix well and sauté for 1 minute.
  2. Add black chickpeas and salt and mix well. Add garam masala powder, mix, cover and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with coriander sprigs and serve hot with puris.
