Ingredients for Grilled Shalgam with Honey Mustard Recipe

  • Turnips peeled, thickly sliced and parboiled in water with 4 medium

  • Honey 3 tablespoons

  • Honey 3 tablespoons

  • Kasundi mustard 3 tablespoons

  • Juice of ½ lemon

  • Garlic cloves 8

  • Ginger finely chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Green chilli finely chopped 1

  • Red chilli powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Turmeric powder a pinch

  • Garam masala powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Cumin powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Coriander powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Dried mango powder (amchur) 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • A fresh mint sprig for garnishing

Method

Step 1

Heat 2 tbsps oil in a non-stick grill pan, add turnip slices and grill.

Step 2

To make dressing, mix together kasundi mustard, honey and lemon juice and set aside.

Step 3

When the underside turns golden, flip the turnip slices and grill on the other side till evenly done.

Step 4

Heat remaining oil in a non-stick pan. Crush garlic cloves and add to this pan. Add ginger and green chilli and sauté till garlic is lightly browned.

Step 5

Add the turnip slices to this pan. Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, dried mango powder, salt and dressing and toss well.

Step 6

Transfer into a serving plate, garnish with a mint sprig and serve hot.
