Ingredients list for Chole Chicken
- 1 cup Chickpeas (kabuli chane) soaked overnight, drained and boiled
- 4 Chicken drumsticks
- 2-3 tablespoons Oil
- 3 teaspoon Medium onions finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon Ginger garlic paste
- 1/2 teaspoon Green chili paste
- 1 Large tomato chopped
- 1/2 cup Tomato puree
- 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- 1 tablespoon Red chilli powder
- 1/2 cup Yogurt
- 1 tablespoon Chole masala
- to taste Salt
- 1 large pi Garam masala powder
- 1/2 Lemon
- to garnish Fresh coriander sprigs
Method
- Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add onions and sauté till golden brown. Add ginger-garlic paste, and green chilli paste, mix and saute for 1 minute.
- Make a few slits on the chicken drumsticks and add to the pan, mix well and cook on high heat for 1-2 minutes.
- Push the drumsticks to the side, add tomato and tomato puree in the centre, mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes on medium heat.
- Add turmeric powder and red chilli powder, mix and cook till the oil separates. Add 1 cup water, mix and cook for 2 minutes.
- Add yogurt, mix and cook for 2 minutes. Add chole masala and mix well. Add salt, mix and cook for 2 minutes.
- Add boiled chickpeas and mix well. Add 1 cup water, mix, cover and cook till the chicken is fully done.
- Add garam masala powder and squeeze the juice of ½ lemon and mix well. Take the pan off the heat.
- Transfer into serving bowls, garnish with coriander sprigs and serve hot.
