Ingredients list for Chicken Mazedar
- 750 grams Chicken cut into small pieces on the bone
- 5 tablespoons Oil
- 1 Bay leaf
- 8-10 Cloves
- 1 inch stick Cinnamon
- 8-10 Green cardamoms
- 2 Black cardamoms
- 6 medium Onions sliced
- 2 tablespoons Ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- 1 tablespoon Coriander powder
- 1 cup Tomato puree
- to taste Salt
- 1 teaspoon Garam masala powder
- 2 tablespoons Sweet date and tamarind chutney
Method
- Heat oil in a non stick pan, add bay leaf, cloves, cinnamon, green cardamoms and black cardamoms and sauté till fragrant.
- Add onion and sauté till golden brown.
- Add chicken pieces, mix well and saute for two minutes.
- Add ginger-garlic paste, red chilli powder, turmeric powder and coriander powder.
- Mix well and saute for a few minutes.Add tomato puree and cook for a few minutes.
- Add two and a half cups of water, salt, garam masala powder and tamarind-date chutney.
- Mix well, cover and cook till the chicken is done. Serve hot.
