Ingredients list for Chicken Dal Pakode

  • 250 grams Boneless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup Bengal gram (chana dal ) soaked
  • ½ cup Split black gram (dhuli urad dal) soaked
  • ½ cup Split green gram skinless (dhuli moong dal) soaked
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons Red chilli powder
  • to taste Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin powder
  • ½ teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • ½ teaspoon Garam masala powder


  1. Cut chicken into strips and mix with lemon juice, half the red chilli powder, salt and ginger-garlic paste. Set aside to marinate for 15-20 minutes.
  2. Put Bengal gram, black gram and green gram in a blender jar and blend into a thick paste using water if required.
  3. Put gram paste, coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, remaining red chilli powder and salt in a bowl and mix well.
  4. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Spread rice flour on a plate.
  5. Dust the marinated chicken strips in the flour, coat well with the gram paste mixture and gently slide into hot oil. Deep-fry till golden and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
  6. Serve hot.
