Drain. Heat two cups of water in a vessel, add the cherries and bring to a boil. Drain and remove the seeds. Mix the stoned cherries, red chilli powder, asafoetida powder, sugar, cumin powder and salt and blend to a smooth paste in a grinder. Serve as an accompaniment.
