Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Raw Banana Curry Recipe

  • Raw bananas peeled and cut into 1 inch cubes 3

  • Onion chopped 1 medium

  • Scraped coconut 1 cup

  • Red chilli powder 1 1/2 teaspoons

  • Garam masala powder 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Tamarind pulp 1 tablespoon

  • Coconut oil 1 tablespoon

Method

Step 1

In a grinding jar take coconut, red chilli powder, salt, turmeric and tamarind. Add sufficient water and grind to a smooth paste.

Step 2

Take a nonstick pan. Add bananas, onions, ground paste, garam masala and salt. Add 1½ cup water and mix well. Now put the pan on heat.

Step 3

Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer for 8-10 minutes or till the bananas are cooked.

Step 4

Add coconut oil mix and further cook for a minute.

Step 5

Transfer into a bowl and serve hot.
