Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Pickled Prawns Indian Style Recipe

  • Prawns shelled and deveined 1 cup

  • Garlic 10-12

  • Ginger 1 inch

  • Red birds eye chillies 6-8

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Onion cut into cubes 1/2 medium

  • Green capsicum chopped 1/4 medium

  • Chinese cabbage 1/4 small

  • Bhuna masala 260 grams

  • Soy sauce 1 tablespoon

  • Vinegar 1 tablespoon

  • Brown sugar 1 tablespoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Fresh coriander leaves finely chopped 2 tablespoons

Method

Step 1

Chop garlic, ginger and red bird’s eye chillies in a chopper and keep aside.

Step 2

Heat oil in a non-stick kadai. Add chopped mixture and sauté till golden.

Step 3

Add onion and capsicum and sauté for a minute.

Step 4

Finely chop cabbage and add to the pan and sauté for 1-2 minutes

Step 5

Add bhuna masala, and sauté for a minute. Add soy sauce, vinegar, brown sugar, salt and prawns and mix well. Cook for 4-5 minutes or till the prawns are just done.

Step 6

Add coriander leaves and mix well. Transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot.
