Ingredients list for Onion Red Chilli Chutney
- 4 medium Onions quartered
- 4 Red Chillies
- 2 tablespoons Tamarind pulp
- to taste Salt
- a pinch Turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Oil
- 1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoons Split Bengal gram (chana dal)
- 1/2 teaspoon Split black gram skinless (dhuli urad dal)
Method
- Put red chillies in a mixer jar.
- Add onions, tamarind pulp, salt, turmeric powder and sugar and grind to a coarse paste. Transfer into a bowl.
- Heat oil in a small non-stick pan, add mustard seeds and cumin seeds and when they begin to splutter add Bengal gram, black gram and sauté till they turn light brown in color.
- Add the tempering to the onion mixture and mix well.
- Serve at room temperature.
