Indian cuisine comprises of a number of regional cuisines.  The diversity in soil type, climate, culture, ethnic group and occupations, these cuisines differ from each other mainly due to the use of locally available spices, herbs, vegetables and fruits. Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Masala Peanuts Recipe

  • Raw peanuts 1 cup

  • Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Red chilli powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Black salt to taste

  • Chaat masala 1 teaspoon

  • Ginger-garlic paste 1 tablespoon

  • Gram flour 3 tablespoons

  • Cornflour 2 tablespoons

  • Rice flour 2 tablespoons

  • Salt to taste

  • Oil to deep fry

Method

Step 1

Take peanuts in a bowl, add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, black salt, chaat masala, ginger-garlic paste and 1 tablespoon water and mix well. Set aside for 10-15 minutes.

Step 2

Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.

Step 3

Mix together gram flour, cornflour, rice flour and salt in another bowl.

Step 4

Dust the peanut mixture with 2-3 tablespoons of the flour mixture and mix well. Sift the peanuts to remove the excess flour mixture.

Step 5

Add the peanuts to the hot oil and deep-fry till crisp and golden brown. Drain on absorbent paper. Cool down to room temperature.

Step 6

Serve or store in an airtight container.
