Ingredients for Lemon Chilli Fish with Kurmura Recipe

  • Basa fish fillets cut into 1 inch pieces 2

  • Lemon 1

  • Green chillies 3-4

  • Puffed rice (kurmura) 2 cups

  • Oil 2-3 teaspo tablespoons

  • Medium onion finely chopped 1

  • Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Curry leaves 15-18

  • Medium red capsicum 1

  • Coriander powder 1 teaspoon

  • Castor sugar 2-3 teaspoons

  • Micro shoots for garnishing


Step 1

Heat 2-3 tsps oil in a non-stick pan. Heat 2 tbsps oil in another non-stick pan.

Step 2

Finely chop green chillies. Add onion to the second pan and saute.

Step 3

Add turmeric powder and red chilli powder to the first pan. Add puffed rice and salt and mix well.

Step 4

When the onion turns translucent add curry leaves and green chillies and mix well.

Step 5

Roughly chop red capsicum and add to the onion mixture. Add salt and coriander powder and mix well. Add fish pieces and mix well. Add lemon juice and mix. Cover and cook till the fish is done.

Step 6

Add castor sugar to the puffed rice and mix well.

Step 7

Spread some of the puffed rice mixture on a serving plate, top with cooked fish, cover with remaining puffed rice, garnish with micro shoots and serve immediately.
