How many times have we thought rice is a blessing? We use it for holy purposes but we also can pressure up a quick pulao or khichdi when hunger pangs are drumming away! This is one grain that is about 98% percent digestible. In India we are familiar with Basmati, Patna or brown rice but it is also available as Italian Rice and Glutinous Rice which is popular in Chinese and Japanese cuisines.

Cook time : 31-40 minutes

Ingredients for Kayloli Recipe

  • Rice flour 1 1/2 cups

  • Semolina 1/2 cup

  • Green chillies , chopped 3

  • Red chilli powder 1 1/2 teaspoons

  • Turmeric powder 3/4 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Milk 1 1/2 cups

  • Oil as required

  • Coconut chutney to serve

Method

Step 1

Take rice flour in a bowl, add semolina, green chillies, red chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt and mix well.

Step 2

Add milk, 1½ cups water and mix well, ensuring there are no lumps left. Set aside for 10-15 minutes.

Step 3

Heat a non-stick tawa. Spread a ladleful of batter evenly. Drizzle some oil around and cook on medium heat for 2-3 minutes or till the underside is golden brown.

Step 4

Flip and cook on other side for 2-3 minutes more. Use up the remaining batter similarly.

Step 5

Keep each on individual serving plate and serve hot with coconut chutney.
