How many times have we thought rice is a blessing? We use it for holy purposes but we also can pressure up a quick pulao or khichdi when hunger pangs are drumming away! This is one grain that is about 98% percent digestible. In India we are familiar with Basmati, Patna or brown rice but it is also available as Italian Rice and Glutinous Rice which is popular in Chinese and Japanese cuisines.

Cook time : 16-20 minutes

Ingredients for Five Spice Rice Recipe

  • Cooked rice 2 cups

  • Chinese five spice powder 1 teaspoon

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Garlic chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Spring onion greens sliced 2

  • Button mushrooms sliced 1/3 cup

  • Red chilli flakes 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Dark soy sauce 1 tablespoon

Method

Step 1

Heat oil in a non-stick wok, add garlic and spring onion bulbs and sauté till golden brown.

Step 2

Add button mushrooms and sauté till they are tender.

Step 3

Add five spice powder, red chilli flakes, salt and sauté for a minute.

Step 4

Add the rice and dark soy sauce and toss to mix.

Step 5

Add the spring onion greens and mix and sauté for a minute. Serve hot.
